Surprise, surprise! iPad 3 to be thinner and lighter than iPad 2, may be more expensive

Surprise, surprise! iPad 3 to be thinner and lighter than iPad 2, may be more expensive Given the design philosophy of Apple, and the thinness of new Samsung tablets, we pretty much already knew that the iPad 3 would be thinner and lighter than the iPad 2, but now we’re seeing some actual proof to that fact. Unfortunately, it may also drive up the price of the tablet as well.
A report from the Taiwan Economic News says that Apple has tapped Simplo Technology Co. and Dynapack International Technology Corp. for the iPad batteries. The word is that the batteries will be thinner and lighter than previous models, but also about 20-30% more expensive. Couple that with the new retina displays expected for the iPad 3 and the costs for parts alone will pile up fairly quickly for Apple.
Of course, we also know that Apple is extremely strict about hitting price points for its products, so it seems unlikely that these costs would push the end price of the iPad. But, thinner, lighter, and a retina screen? Seems like a winner to us.

Samsung Announces Dual-Core 1.4GHz, Super AMOLED HD Plus-Based Galaxy Tab 7.7 And 5.3” Samsung Galaxy Note [VIDEOS] Samsung Mobile has announced two all-new products today. The first is the Galaxy Tab 7.7 which, you may have guessed, is a tablet while the second product is the Galaxy Note. Both are based on Android, have dual-core processors and come with Super AMOLED HD Plus displays.
The news comes from a press event held by Samsung at IFA where the two gadgets were announced.
Let’s discuss the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 first. Thanks to its descriptive name, one can easily tell that it is a 7.7” tablet. It is based on Android 3.2 “Honeycomb” with Samsung’s custom TouchWiz UX running on top. It packs a dual-core 1.4GHz Exynos chip with 1GB of RAM and 16/32/64GB of storage. There is a 3MP camera on the back with a 2MP camera on the front for video chatting and casual photographs. Weighing in at a light 334 grams, the Tab comes with 5,100mAh battery which is rated at 10 hours for video playback. Besides this, you get the usual Bluetooth, WiFi, HSPA+ connectivity and microSD card slot that we’ve become used to seeing on all Android tablets.
The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is essentially the Honeycomb-based version of the original 7” Galaxy Tab which was based on Gingerbread.
The greatest feature that this tablet possesses is the 1280×800 Super AMOLED Plus display. Thanks to Samsung’s advanced display technology, you’ll get to see amazing colors, crisp text and awesome viewing angles which are guaranteed to leave everyone impressed.

Apple Airs New iPad 2 Commercial Titled ‘Learn’ [VIDEO]

Apple Airs New iPad 2 Commercial Titled ‘Learn’ [VIDEO] With Apple purported to be refreshing its iPhone and iPod range and bringing forth iOS 5, it’s only fair that the Cupertino gives the iPad a little airplay, if you’ll pardon the pun.
Since the launch of the original iPad just last year, it has proven to be a very versatile product which benefits a number of situations, and the latest of Apple’s many simple-yet-effective ad campaigns focuses on one benefit in particular – learning.
Productivity has always been one of the main selling points of the iPad. The iWork suite makes it easy to organize and carry out meetings and conferences on the move, and there are plenty of ways to create, export, print and share documents on-the-go.
It has, no doubt, also been portrayed as a great gaming device, and many of the hits of the App store such as Angry Birds and Real Racing have found a successful home-from-home on the larger device.
The skeptics and cynics were quick to write off the iPad as a gimmick, or a large iPhone, but the portability and interaction paired with a little of the Apple touch has seen the device become a huge hit, and turned tablet devices in general from an idea with potential, to a competitive market which it now dominates.
The advert itself is very clever; it plays on the human trait of curiosity in order to draw in potential consumers. Take a look:

iPad dock shopping cart keeps footie fans and their other halves happy

iPad dock shopping cart keeps footie fans and their other halves happy British football fans agree on very few things: how much everyone likes Jimmy Bullard, Arséne Wenger’s need to buy a proper centre-half and how painful it is to be dragged out shopping just before kickoff on Saturday. It’s those sympathetic and forward-thinking people at Sky who have the answer, at least to that last one. The company has teamed up with supermarket Sainsbury’s (which has a track record ofinnovation) to trial a new trolley with a solar-powered iPad dock and speakers. Now you can watch the game, or anything else, via the Sky Go app on your device and get the grocery shopping done at the same time. Worried about getting so engrossed in Juan Mata’s footwork that you’ll be a danger to others? Rest easy, the cart has proximity sensors attached to let you know when you’re about to sideswipe a pensioner. It’s being trialled in the Cromwell Road Sainsbury’s in West London — all you need to try it yourself is an iPad, Sky Go access and a desire to be on the cutting edge of sports and technology. If the thought of shouting ‘Taxi for Bent!‘ down the fruit aisle appeals, you can catch another pic and the press release after the break.

Facebook For iPad App Could Be Released At Facebook’s 2011 f8 Developer Conference On September 22nd If you’re an avid Facebook developer, or just someone hoping to make more online friends, you might be pleased to learn that Facebook is holding its traditional developer event, known as “f8″, on September 22nd in San Francisco. Out of the additions that might be introduced there, a Facebook client for the iPad seems to be the most obvious one.
Facebook, founded way back in 2004, has come a long way since those early days, in part thanks to the developers who have created great applications for the site. The “f8″ conference is aimed at getting all those interested in developing Facebook apps or integrating the social network into their own websites together, in order to showcase Facebook’s newest feature additions. At the last f8, which took place in April last year, the company introduced the new“Like” feature, allowing users to spread the word about a website, brand, product, video, or any kind of online content, on their personal Facebook profile

Windows 8 Offers Radically Improved And Blazing Fast Boot Times [VIDEO]

Windows 8 Offers Radically Improved And Blazing Fast Boot Times [VIDEO] Nowadays, powering on a Windows 7 computer involves a great deal of waiting, even if it’s just a few seconds. While the current version of Windows has made improvements in this area, Microsoft doesn’t consider it enough and has completely revolutionized the way the Windows operating system is loaded up in Windows 8.

Here is the graphic compared between the Windows 8 and 7 start up.

The new system works much like the current Hibernation feature in Windows 7, as well as previous versions of Windows, which saves the session’s state onto the system disk before the machine is powered off. This allows users to be up and running in a matter of seconds once the machine is powered up.

Case-Mate iPhone 5 Case Slips Out! Confirms A Whole New Design [IMAGE]

Case-Mate iPhone 5 Case Slips Out! Confirms A Whole New Design [IMAGE] It was thought for a long time that the iPhone 5 will more or less resemble the iPhone 4 cosmetically but recent leaks somewhat debunked the claim, it has long since been thought that Apple would completely revamp the design of the newer device.
Following a similar form factor to the iPad 2, all leads have pointed to a curved, possibly metal backplate, with an overall thinner, shorter and wider design with an increased screen diameter. In recent weeks, accessory makers have been hard at work producing many different protection shells for the device, most of which seeming to follow the aforementioned design trend.

This Is The Best iPad Knock-Off We’ve Ever Seen, Runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread [VIDEO]

This Is The Best iPad Knock-Off We’ve Ever Seen, Runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread [VIDEO] China is known for a lot of things: The Great Wall, a rich history, paper, gunpowder, Pandas and, of course, knock off gadgets. We came across a pretty cool knock off today: it’s called the Aocos N19 and it is a 9.7” tablet that looks like an iPad, but works like an Android-powered device.
The news comes from M.I.C. Gadget – a blog dedicated to covering gadgets made in China. The site talked about the Aocos N19 yesterday which, as we just mentioned, an iPad look-alike that works like an Android tablet.
Powered by a 1.2GHz ARM Cortex A8 processor (which basically means it is quite fast), it runs on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal memory which can be expanded with a microSD card.
The Aocos N19’s display is, according to M.I.C. Gadget, the best bit about it. Knock-offs usually come with low-quality displays, but this one dons a high-resolution (1024×768) 9.7” capacitivedisplay that offers wide viewing angles and bright, bright colors thanks to IPS technology (which is what is actually used on the original iPad).
Other features include 720p HDMI output, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video chats, a microSD card slot, miniUSB slot. It is 13mm thick (same as original iPad) and weighs 660g (60g over the original iPad).
M.I.C. Gadget went hands-on with the device and found it to be running smoothly. Performance on heavy games was just satisfactory.

Alleged iPhone 5 Logic Board Leaks, A5 Processor And 1,430mAh Battery Shown Off [PHOTO]

Alleged iPhone 5 Logic Board Leaks, A5 Processor And 1,430mAh Battery Shown Off [PHOTO] Apple’s philosophy of faster, thinner and lighter has worked wonders thus far in the annual upgrade of its popular iPhone device. The iPhone 5 will follow the same motif of its predecessors when it finally rears its head, and the images are now springing up demonstrating the device’s mainboard, complete with an A5 chip which already has analysts tipping it to out-perform the the powerful Galaxy S II from rival; Samsung.
Battery life is also an issue which tends to plague powerful smartphones. Whilst having a million and one features is a productive plus, being let down by the battery down can be the difference between a good device and a great one. In order to cater for the slightly larger purported screen and more powerful innards, it looks as though Apple has slightly upgraded to a 1,430m
