Apple iPhone 3GS

The Apple iPhone 3GS - Still strong at two years old.
The Mobile Track Report for the second quarter of 2011 recently released by the NPD Group shows that the Apple iPhone 4 is the top-selling mobile phone capturing 29% of the market. What is more surprising, however, is that its older sibling, the Apple iPhone 3GS follows right at its heels.
Introduced in 8 June 2009 with 16GB and 32GB versions, the iPhone 3GS continues to be produced. An 8GB version was introduced after the iPhone 4 was announced. This, of course, comes at a reduced price which, undoubtedly, contributed to its renewed popularity.
It is not, however, only the reduced price that makes the iPhone 3GS popular. It packs plenty of features that can stand up to those of the iPhone 4. It allows you to run third-party apps even simultaneously without slowing them down, and to switch between them instantaneously. Organizing your apps is quick and easy with its drag and drop capability. With iBooks, you can browse and shop for books online anytime, and read them on the phone. And when calling, you can simply tap the name or number of the person you want to call. There is no need to dial each number individually.
The Apple iPhone 3GS uses a scratch-resistant oleophobic display manufactured by LG but designed by Apple. It is a capacitive touch screen that measures 3.5 inches diagonally. Resolution is at 320 x 480 with 16 million colors.
Powered by a 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor that runs on an iOS 3 operating system, the 3GS is twice as fast as the 3G, loading apps in just 2 – 10 seconds. The operating system can be upgraded to iOS 4. RAM is 256 MB which can support the enhanced performance of iOS 4 should you opt to upgrade.
Mounted on the back of the phone is a 3-megapixel camera that includes autofocus, auto white balance, and auto macro. In addition to taking still shots, it can also record videos in VGA. With its tap-to-focus feature, you can tap on a section of the image on the screen to zoom in up to 10x with digital zoom, and to automatically adjust its focus for a sharp picture.
