Motorola Defy Android Phone – T-Mobile

Examining the Motorola Defy Android smart phone from T-Mobile.
Reading through the brochure or manual of the Motorola Defy Android Phone, you can quickly surmise the reason why it was given such a name –it defies scratches, water, and dust. Thanks to its Corning Gorilla Glass, its 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display is resistant to damage. All ports on the smart phone are covered with rubberized stoppers making it resistant to water and dust.
The phone measures 2.3″ W x 4.2″ H x 0.5″ D, weighing 118 grams. The WVGA display features 16 million colors with a 480 x 854-pixel resolution. It has a proximity sensor and an internal accelerometer that automatically changes the orientation of the screen’s image from portrait to landscape if the phone is tilted on its side. Since the phone does not have a physical keyboard, it has a Swype-enabled virtual keyboard and a multi-touch QWERTY keyboard.
Underneath the display screen is an 800 MHz Cortex-A8 Processor that runs on an Android 2.1 (Éclair) operating system, but this is upgradeable to 2.2 (Froyo). Given this pair, the Defy boasts of quick 3G connectivity via the HSDPA/UMTS network of T-Mobile, allowing you to browse the Web and connect with your family and friends at tremendous speeds. This connectivity can be shared with your other devices such as your laptop, tablet, or another smart phone. Onboard memory is 2 GB but this is expandable to 32 GB via a microSD card.
As the Motorola Defy uses an Android operating system, it offers a single-touch access to the most popular Google mobile services. This includes Google Search by Voice, YouTube, Picasa, and Google Maps Navigation. With Google Maps you are given pre-loaded turn-by-turn guidance to your destination. Best of all, these are all free.
In addition to the usual smart phone features as voice dialing, text and multimedia messaging, speakerphone, conference calling, and visual voice mail, the Defy also has a 5-megapixel camera/camcorder with autofocus and zoom, Bluetooth connectivity, digital media player, FM radio, and Wi-Fi calling bypassing cellular airwaves.
Equipped with Motoblur, the Defy allows you to sync your contacts, messages, posts, and photos from your emails and social media sites and have them displayed on the home screen.
Powered by a 1540 mAh lithium-ion battery you have a talk time of up to eight hours or 18 days of standby time.
